FOCUSING is simply defined as a way of capturing an inward bodily sensation that then helps a person develop a sense of how his or her innate intelligence feels about a particular life situation – it could be called “thinking with one’s gut”.
Focusing teaches us to notice how our body or inner guidance system feels about things: problems, the workplace, conflict, relationships, money, blocks, the creative process etc. It teaches us to feel our body’s “felt sense” of these things.
When we turn inward and listen to the body’s knowledge about an issue in our lives, we access our own innate intelligence, learning more than what we THINK we know about the issue.
